The last man on earth

In 1964, there was a movie Italian-American film that was released that was based on the 1954 novel I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. This film The Man on Earth was directed by Ubaldo Ragona and Sidney Salkow, which stars Vincent Price. The movie was filmed in Rome, specifically in Italy. It was released in the united states by American International Pictures in 1966. When shooting the film, the crew shot in Italy with a predominantly Italian cast and crew. When the producer purchased the rights to Matheson’s novel there were clear differences between the novel and the film that was made. Some changes included the name of the protagonist as well as his profession. In the film the vampires were almost zombie like when as in the novel they were fast and able to run and climb, also there is no transfusion that takes place and a cure seems implausible. When the film was first released it was no viewed as a success. As the film later got more favorable with its reputation and became a classic in the genre. In November 2011, The Last Man on Earth had a rating of 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. Phil Hall of Film Threat called The Last Man on Earth "the best Vincent Price movie ever made." Awarding the film three and a half stars out of four. Overall when the film first came out It had really mixed reviews not many people enjoyed it but today it is viewed as a classic. I thought that it took a lot from Vampiyr one of the first horror movies with dialogue. I think that they mostly viewed that film first to help get inspired for their film.
