This species of Philippine island vampire is said to be as old as the islands themselves.
"Originally the Danag coexisted with mankind and were even accredited as .being the ones who first cultivated the taro plant." However a woman had her cut finger sucked by a Danag and it realized it loved the taste of blood and drained her dry.
GURPS Blood Types gives only the name, no details.
