anyone can post!

Editing Edit

I apologise for any offence, but under the CC-BY-SA it gives any person the right to edit anything within reasonable boundaries (ie Admin stuff). Yes, WARNING is a useful category and would have saved me a lot of trouble on the 29th of January but it should be categorised. As for Ghouls, in folklore we are always taught to regard them as a re-animated corpse and Muppets do not really work for Dhamphiri. However, useful pictures can be found in the book A Compendium Of Vampires And Other Perilous Creatures. With yet more apologies Wyvern

Let me explain Edit

I am very sorry for any misunderstanding, but a spammer on LOTR Wiki distracted me and I did not get to write the last half. I wanted to point out that Vampires in Eastern Europe were often percieved as enemies of the people, leading the church to decry the undead as anti-religion. In fact, there was one case of a monk coming back to pray and prey in Yorkshire back in 1192! The same applies for lycanthropes. Though I am not particularly religious, I respect religion greatly. I thought that I might send you this:

Spirit Is not Cosmos

Is Is

Is not Existence Is not

Is

Matter

It is a Triune stone, the work of the Hermetic philosophers and very useful. As for "metals like iron". I always thought that it was silver for Vampires and iron for Elves, but when I researched with the impeccable Westwood and Simpson companion, it told me that in some cases iron has a warding effect against evil Vampires. Also, I am a kind of Administrator called a cross-wiki Rollback. It means that I can fight spam on any wiki by restoring previous versions of articles. Please, do not be offended. Next time, Denethor II can wait. Wyvern Rex. 12:55, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Administrators Edit

In response to your question, this wiki had three administrators, who have been inactive since 2008. Please, do not feud as for a start it is against the wikia guidelines. Again, I shall point out that I have apologised for any offence, and that a distraction on LOTR Wiki prevented me from finishing a comment. I hope that we can still work together for the good of the wiki. Wyvern Rex. 11:38, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Just a tip: don't put too much on pages about your book or Wikia will technically own the rights under the CC-BY-SA. If you wait until you have a confirmed publisher, it will public domain and safe(even required) to have pages on it. Wyvern Rex. 09:10, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Title Edit

The book title would be useful, as then I could create a specialist category for it when you write the pages. After all, Bookworm's book already has a title and a category. Wyvern Rex. 11:04, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

A little task. Edit

Could you help me with this: put a small message on the talk page of everyone who has logged in recently, asking them to vote? Something like: Have your say on this wiki's official version by voting at the talk page of Vampire (subspecies). It should have the title Vampire vs Vampyre. Please, no canvassing for the "y". Wyvern Rex. 11:15, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Thankyou. I have got to J. Remind me, why did Jstfan 13 create My Kind Of Vampire? Wyvern Rex. 11:19, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Nice. High Copperplate Gothic font would finish it nicely, but sadly it is not supported by Central. Wyvern Rex. 11:25, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I have done everyone up to you now. Could you explain why vampires are suddenly very popular? It only really started in 2008. Wyvern Rex. 11:30, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Twilight... There but for the grace of... I might just finish my other task first. Wyvern Rex. 11:36, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Everyone's done now. I'm off to sort out LOTR. Wyvern Rex. 11:44, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

I have looked at them, but I am late enough for moderation on LOTR Fanon as it is. Lycanthropes are definitely underrated. Wyvern Rex. 12:06, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

Moderation going well. If you need a name for a savage or evil vampire, LOTR Fanon wiki has a link through the manual of style(Found by looking at what links here for Gandalf City) to a name generator for Orcs and Fallen Maiar, the latter group including Vampires. It will also explain what the name means. Wyvern Rex. 12:18, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

There are savage and evil humans. Why should any other species be different(I am not generalising, I believe that all species are good on the whole.)? Wyvern Rex. 09:09, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

The CC-BY-SA states that if user is inactive and failing to reply, another user(Admins prefered, but anyone will do.) should send a statement advising him to reply, even if just to acknowledge the presence of the message. JoePlay is one of a team of cross-wiki Admins and 'Crats who patiently work through the various grievances of users. Et al in Latin means "and all", refering to the other helpers. It is sad that Bookworm left. It was before my time, but something similar happened on Ologypedia(Spongezilla) and LOTR Fanon(The evil O'Malley). Votes are hardly flooding in, are they? Wyvern Rex. 12:05, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

I have just been on Entertainment Wiki and clicked Random page. I thought that you might be interested in the result. I found World of Twilight RPG Wiki. The idea is that you create a page for your character in the Twilightverse, then write part of a fan-fiction blog, to which others can contribute to create an expanded storyline. In my opinion, better than the original. It is a bit like the sadly-defunct Werecat, but wikified and for Twilight instead of Inheritance. Full rules are there. Wyvern Rex. 11:45, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

LunaBella, I would advise leaving BW for a while, before he can claim under the GDFL for "pressure to edit". I am convinced that he will come back(Krystal Tomlin has just reappeared on LOTR Fanon!) but it has to be his decision. He is doing very good work still, but elsewhere.

I have a plan for this wiki, to attract more people(I learnt this one from the NYPD strategy of the 90's.). If a wiki looks run-down, the only visitors will be vandals and the "vultures" waiting for death so that they can invade. Therefore, we must tidy it up! Check spelling, punctuation, grammar and formatting. Find new images, redesign the skin, start debating on Articles for Deletion or Merging and(this never fails) create a category called "Active Contributors". The reasoning is that this wiki must be quite active to have such a category, therefore I shall help. They should be hooked by the time that they realise that only you, me, Mia and MR are doing the actual work! Your thoughts? Wyvern Rex. 12:43, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

I can't just block you from talking to Bookworm1138. Here is my advice. Go off to Twilight wiki for a while. If an infringement of the rules occurs, you will be invited back. It probably will. Also, don't edit other people's userpages. Even if they are being offensive. Wyvern Rex. 18:33, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Blocking Edit

Bookworm1138 and DarkBabealicious have been blocked. I found them plotting off-wiki to "Get a a promotion off WR and get rid of him.". Wyvern Rex. 12:46, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Do you mind if I switch the skin to Gaming for a while? I "know" my way around that one more. I intend to design a new logo and skin, for our new era. Wyvern Rex. 15:28, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

RE: "metals like iron". I did some more research and found that iron stakes were more common than wooden ones, due to the obvious reluctance to open the coffin. Iron could simply be hammered in from outside. Also, where did this myth of their eyes changing come from? Many records show that they were identified as similar to an animal form because their eyes remained constant(like Lycanthropes). Any hints for me? Wyvern Rex. 15:36, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Can you work your way through the contents of category Vampires? Wyvern Rex. 18:22, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Answers Edit

A lot of questions! Make just one improvement category and call it Cleanup. For the new skin and logo I have planned, have a look at JoePlay's talk. As for the category, Vampire Counts would have been better (But that is probably just the Warhammer talking.). About time, I will try to reply the same day, but after about 2pm (your time) it is very unlikely. I am six hours ahead and I don't use Shoutbox(The true horror was drilled into me by having to write inane promos on two wikis.). Wyvern Rex. 12:37, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Create category Definitions. Wyvern Rex. 16:44, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

If you edit on a page, and that page gets deleted, you lose the edits. The next task is to go on Hammerwiki and use the information to fill in the redlinks on Nagash the Unbreakable. Add some Warhammer stuff to Strigoi while you're at it. Wyvern Rex. 17:22, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Keep COTD. Actually, for Strigoi in Warhammer create a new page with title Strigoi (Warhammer). It would be better for the categories. Wyvern Rex. 20:47, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

If Strigoi haven't got a page, go on Vampire in Hammerwiki and scroll down until you get to vampire description (like Lahmians). Strigoi should be at the bottom of the descriptions, as they are the most ancient and terrible. Wyvern Rex. 09:07, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I don't mind. You could do it on Pop Culture. Tommorow, could you get the images of Kamilla the Decayed and Lord Neborhest(This one is on the Vampire page on HammerWiki)? Also, could you go on some other vampire wikis and "ahem" poach "ahem" a few contributors? Thankyou. Wyvern Rex. 21:29, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

We don't seem able to use the images for copyright reasons. This really annoys me. We try to promote their game, but we can't even have some concept art. Even rejected concept art would be something! Still, Warhammer keeps getting its ideas stolen by others. Maybe you could find a clone image on another wiki? Wyvern Rex. 12:58, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

You got them? Wow! They are not showing up yet, but if you put Kamilla on Neferata and Neborhest on Wsoran, followed by Lahmians and Necrachs respectively when we get round to them it will be a good start. Wyvern Rex. 17:01, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Start any page you like! I meant that when I wrote Lahmians and Necrachs, I will also put them on their. Could you find any other images of Vampires from LOTR or Warhammer tommorow? After all, you have got your page to write. Wyvern Rex. 17:35, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Very good. I will do Wsoran and, if I have the time, Neferata. Wyvern Rex. 17:42, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the basic Userbox idea is this: Everyone's opinion about vampire can be divided into five groups, based here on a similar film of choice.

30 Days Of Night: Strigoi

Twilight: Lahmian

Dracula: Von Carstein

Underworld: Blood Dragon

No film but a book on folklore: Necrarch

Awards are for Article Attack (Filling in red links) and Number of edits.

Wyvern Rex. 12:32, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

We should use "i". A user retracted their vote for "y", leaving us with a draw. I also want to mention Sean Manchester, one of Vampirology's greatest villains, who was responsible for misinforming the general public since 1960. He managed to get on both sides of the Atlantic and the Discovery Channel. As far as I can tell this self-styled "vampire hunter" has never hunted a single vampire, instead claiming that his devout faith has aided in driving it away! He is at least an deluded "genuine" vampire expert, unlike Dave Farrant. Wyvern Rex. 15:31, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Try to expand category Clean Up, particularly the Kain stuff. (Popular for reasons beyond my comprehension.) Wyvern Rex. 18:50, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

OK, start on Lahmians and Von Carsteins. When doing the latter, give Vlad, Manfred and Konrad their own sections with Header 2. Wyvern Rex. 17:51, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, we do need some werewolf articles. Create a category for them and in time write The Trouble With Lycanthropes to sort out the myths. Did you know that silver bullets were invented for 1930's film The Wolfman? It was so that they did not have to use Wolfbane or flaying. Ordinary bullets also work, but where's the fun in that? Wyvern Rex. 09:25, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Well, work on the three which seem to be the least dire. We don't need silver, but we must have wolfbane and injuries being carried over to human form. I am often asked (not really, but stick with it) why Werewolves are so powerful against Vampires. I think that I know the answers. Vampires have numerous powers, but shapeshifting uses much energy. As such, they would be less strong afterwards, because they have to keep other functions going which are not present in Lycanthropes. Also, a Werewolf could sniff out a Vampire and reveal their identity, the sense of smell being less strong for a Vampire. It seems that Lycanthropes vs Vampires is really Specialisation vs Diversification. A Werewolf can do one thing very well. That is all it needs to do. Wyvern Rex. 09:30, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Another piece of random speculation. What about The Perception Of Vampires, about their change from guttural revenants hardly better than zombies to T'wilight? 'After all, we are an "encyclopedia" and we need to be encyclopedic.

PS: Did you hear about the book that Meyer is releasing online? Something to do with "Bree" and "Eclipse". Physical copy available two days later on 5 June (Not an early April Fool's Day joke!).

Wyvern Rex. 14:25, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I was trying to find a fascinating website and I got that instead. I shall have a go at the new page, based on what I can remember from books and the internet.

PS: Have you seen any April Fool's day jokes on Wikia?

Wyvern Rex. 11:34, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

How the eleven gets did you manage it that quickly? What I meant was that you should specify the website of origin. Wyvern Rex. 17:10, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

I meant the images, but good work anyway. I would like Carcharan and Thuringwethil next, along with any relevant Warhammer you come across. PS: Bad news: My Warhammer stuff has been out of date since 2008. Good news: The 2008 update has been reverted. Wyvern Rex. 14:28, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

On Bing it specifies the place of origin for images. Please provide this. (I don't really care, its all at least Fair Use, but others may.) Wyvern Rex. 18:59, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

Pictures. Now I have to go, for there is a not-quite-lucid non-reg on Dragons. Wyvern Rex. 19:02, April 10, 2010 (UTC)

She seems to work. I have found a Carcharan, but I can't upload it through some sort of read-only fault: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/File:Carcharan.jpg. Wyvern Rex. 07:53, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

I just noticed that there are other vampire bats in the category Bat Images. Could I have those as well? Wyvern Rex. 08:56, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, Weas-El is admin on Inheriwiki, German Inheriwiki and Swisherwiki. I asked him to come and generally fix everything. (Certain "contributors", even our original admin, didn't do as much as they made out.) He is German and knowledgeable in Old English and Old Norse, as well as countless fictional languages. It was very kind of you to wish him Kvetha. Wyvern Rex. 18:03, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

I don't need you to do anything, I was just introducing you to Weas-El while commenting on Alerix, the previous admin. Wyvern Rex. 19:34, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, any news on Imiladris? (Wyvern Rex. now features an even faster computer, though this doesn't help the choice between hundreds of bewildering options Games Workshop!) Wyvern Rex. 14:51, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Deletion rules Edit

Our new rules can be found at the discussion page of Category:Candidates for Deletion. Wyvern Rex. 12:37, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Ideas Edit

I have just written the good bit in Neferata. Maybe this Necrarch has been near a window too long, but I think we should adopt Userboxes for each of the Warhammer bloodlines. Not yet, because I haven't written two of them. The idea is that Strigoi are Animal Powers/Brute Force, Von Carsteins are Traditional/Regenerative, Blood Dragons are Physical Powers/Combat Skill, Lahmians are Alluring/Political and Necrarchs are Mental Powers/Spellcasting. We then ask users to choose their preferred skill area and put that Userbox on their userpage. On The One Wiki To Rule Them All I have something of a Userbox "showroom" on my userpage. Also see Inheriwiki. As well as this, we could do "Hail to the Horror" awards for outstanding contributions, similar to the Barnstars of other wikis. What do you think? Which would you be? Wyvern Rex. 10:43, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

Another completely random thing. What about a page entitled The Trouble With Vampires, listing and describing the myths and misconceptions? A suprising amount were invented in Victorian England to generally reduce the horror, while many of the rest come from Nosferatu. That's right. One film gave us sunlight, garlic and the Church being heavily involved with inserting wood into hearts. (Well, this was both an unofficial Dracula film, so they had to introduce these myths to prevent copyright problems, and according to some an early critique of Nazism with the rats matching up to the SA.). Your thoughts? Wyvern Rex. 11:10, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Hello? I hope that you realise that you can edit however and whenever you like and that you don't have to be told before you can start anything. (And yes, I have finished the Warhammer.) OK, here's the idea. I need you to find obscure stuff which doesn't have its own wiki (Like Warhammer then. ed) and write about it. As this is a folklore wiki and domain name issues abound, we can diversify into lycanthropes. Your thoughts? (PS: could you get rid of the DarkBabealicious comments? It makes the wiki look better on search engines.) Wyvern Rex. 18:03, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, there is some sort of legal stuff going on. On file talk pages, could you specify where you got them from to avoid miscategorisation? I would also quite like a picture of Gûlavhar, the Terror of Arnor. PS: How are things on the Twilight Wiki? Wyvern Rex. 16:42, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

New Obsession Skin Edit

My beloved Gaming skin is being replaced by this one. Your thoughts? Wyvern Rex. 11:31, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

I knew that you would like it. Wyvern Rex. 17:46, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Weas-El Edit

I was just introducing an excellent contributor.

This may sound odd, but I'm in a debate on Inheriwiki. Before Twilight, people used to discriminate against Eragon (They are a petty bunch...) and claim that it was derived from The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. It isn't, but those who aren't attacking Twilight pages now (Even I have been moved to revert vandalism. They just seem to know where four letters are on their keyboards.) are still debating. I have just said that they confused Eragon and World of Warcraft and could look quite stupid if I am wrong.

The only bit you need to read: See if you can find any reference to Imiladris in Eragon by someone who is not raving against it.

l-something-or-other.

Wyvern Rex. 14:45, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Rollback Edit

I've got round it with Imladris. I recieved an award on Inheriwiki today, about a month late. Your edit count here is almost the same as mine there. As I would hate to think that anyone was being forced to wait for something they deserve, I have given you Rollback. Now, you can fight spam easily (Go to History then click Rollback.) and upload multiple files (Well, you do all of that for me.). Good luck. PS: What dark witchcraft is involved in the potential delay of Twilight: Ecilipse? Pick-up shots? Arguments with a director?

Wyvern Rex. 14:27, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

A bit of a task: If you could, research vampires in Indiana Jones and do something on the "Vampire Wars" series which keeps appearing in those little boxes at the bottom of the screen. Thankyou. PS: Do you know Atlantagirl?

Wyvern Rex. 17:49, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

Wyvern Rex. 18:29, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Could you ask Rosie, Mia and the entire population of Twi-wiki to leave a comment of the blog Manifesto of the Sylvania Alliance on May 6? I left all canvassing to the last minute... PS: Vampires on Doctor Who this weekend.(They'll never beat Douglas Adams in 1979, grumble.)Wyvern Rex. 16:36, May 4, 2010 (UTC)

Just wondering where you were.--Wyvern Rex. 18:10, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Glad to have you back. I have been told that my "Dracula Succession" template looks empty. I think that we should probably find some more information to go in it. Do you agree? (In the latest installment of Science Fiction series Doctor Who, our hero departs for Venice, where the dying Sanguynarian race attempt to save themselves from extinction by feeding on humans and converting them to their species. According to my inexpert search on Tardispedia anyway.)--Wyvern Rex. 08:28, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, one of days. Searching for "The Battle for Middle Earth" reminds why I hate Youtube. Still, you're American and you've never seen "Gin the Dancing Dog", which passes for entertainment on this side of the Atlantic. Anyway, I have a wiki-related idea. Create a blog post and I can tell you more. (This is being kept quiet, you understand.)--Wyvern Rex. 17:23, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't matter. When you feel like writing one, tell me so that I can show you the secret writing technique I learnt. (No wait, in the UK we did invent and are still the main producers of comedy. Five minutes of non-dedicated effort later, and I have already mastered Gin's entire act.)--Wyvern Rex. 18:31, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

We do need something on the various countenances of Alucard, particularly as everyone except me is a Hellsing fan. Also, do you have an advice column on Twilight wiki? I go along to enter Ologypedia for the frontpage competition and find I learn something new every day. What was the strangest question?--Wyvern Rex. 16:39, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about the delay. These so-called "upgrades"... I was just curious really. Do you have a slideshow on the Twilight wiki?--Wyvern Rex. 16:39, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

Leaving Edit

Luna,

I tried to warn you on numerous occassions that on bad days I turn into an a-hole... like I told you this morning, I'm having a very bad day. When you did that, it was like putting a card on the top of the house of cards making it topple over. seemingly, everything in my life right now sucks ass! So I told you I was leaving to take a shower so I could cool off. I wasnt going to be a jerk and leave the wiki forever. Then you compared me to someone else in your life, making my issues about you. and that is one of my biggest pet peives!!! So come back or dont, but know that your the one closing this door, not me. Sorry Edit

Hi Luna, sorry for not answering your welcome message. I must have missed that :-( I like your wiki, even though I'm not very familiar with that subject. Feel free to ask me in case there are any technical problems with wikitext, templates, categorization or something like that. --Weas-El talk | blog ) 10:18, May 15, 2010 (UTC)

That is the main flaw. Still, I don't mind one about your book. Have a look on WereWiki (there are two, its the one with the grey skin) if you have time.--Wyvern Rex. 10:55, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

A potentially (deeply) worrying situation Edit

Once, I could turn on the television and find something vampiric on every side. However, the Twi-mania is slowing. New series are being made at a slower rate and can't replace the ones which are dying off. Obviously, I am rejoicing. But will there be any call for an Encyclopedia about something going out of fashion in favour of cheap Sci-Fi (or SyFy, as its apparently known) and wall-to-wall gritty police dramas? How can we compete with Enron: The Musical and dramas about the Coalition Government? With The Life of Reilly, the worst comedy series ever made? How? Anyway, I thought back to Warhammer 40K. Found a tank called an "Eldar Vampire", the vampiric Space Marines known as the "Blood Angels" and xenological Psi-Vamps (I think that how it should be.) named the Necrons (Yes, a black-comedy parody of the Wraiths from SG.). Could this save us?--Wyvern Rex. 10:55, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hello Edit

It's been a busy time. Have a look:

Anyway, thankyou for the slideshow information. I have been trying to get back to the dark side again, by reading this and this. Neither are quite conventional takes on vampirism, so I think that they should have a place here.--Wyvern Rex. 10:55, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Formspring? Anyway, I would like a page on Richard Matheson's book "I Am Legend" and a page on "The Tain" by China Miéville. Thankyou.--Wyvern Rex. 09:36, March 26, 2011 (UTC)
